Makita Power Tools (HK) Ltd. belongs to Makita Corporation which was founded in 1915. Makita is Japan’s top manufacturer of portable electric power tools and recognized leader globally.

Filling a Niche

“Makita Corporation has a very strong R&D team who knows the market very well. We keep expanding the product range to meet even broader range of needs,” Kazuya says.

“We have launched and sold more than 700 models in HK with almost half of them are cordless tools. We provide tools to suit the needs of a wide range of customers. The company offers professional power tools and pneumatic tools as well as garden tools and products for indoor household use too.”

“Our focus products in HK are cordless tools, mainly lithium-ion powered. The most popular platforms are 12V and 18V whereas the former is for light duty user and the latter for medium to heavy duty users. 18V is the biggest product family with more than 100 different models. The key future initiatives include creating products based on the development theme of expanding and upgrading our lineup of cordless tools running on 18V lithium-ion batteries. The newest product line is the 18Vx2 which means that the users can keep using the 18V batteries on hand but able to upgrade the power of tool to 36V. This helps our users to save money and make the most out of the Makita lithium-ion batteries.”

Added Value

Examples of innovative products launched include a fan jacket that keeps people cool in summer, a heated vest that is warm but easy to move in even in winter, and cordless coffee maker that can be used in the workplace. Vacuum cleaners and robot cleaners are also the focus products in 2016. To our users, Makita is a professional brand and close friend, says Kazuya.

“We are delighted to meet and share technical know-how with our customers in the Makita Showroom both in Mongkok and Macau. We have built very good relationship with our users and this is the reason why we established Makita Fans Club in 2013. We always enjoyed chatting with our users so that we can keep abreast of the users’ requirement and market potential.”
