The global pandemic has made learning in today’s world a challenge. Akis Cheung, Director of Academics for THE Education Academy Group shares the importance of having a unique teaching approach which not only creates academic excellence, but also looks after students’ mental health.

THE Education Academy Group focuses on providing academic support for students studying in the international curricula, such as IB, A level, IGCSE, AP, SAT, etc. Founded in 2017, our mission is to create academic excellence for students, with the awareness of “THE” – “T” for technology, “H” for humanities, “E” for environment.

“In May 2021, our IB students got flying colors in their public exams – we got two full scorers (45/45) and our average score is 42/45 (world average: 33/45). Moreover, on average, more than 80% of our students got level 6 or 7 in each subject they have classes in our center! In August 2021, our IGCSE students got flying colors as well – 100% of our students got level 7 or above for each subject they had classes in our center,” says Akis Cheung, Director of Academics for THE Education Academy Group.

“During the pandemic, students’ learning got seriously affected since face to face lessons are not allowed, so we responded immediately by converting all classes to online learning via platforms like Zoom and Google Meet. One of the things we recognized in this time of crisis is the importance of maintaining good mental health, so we provided student counselling, and had much closer coordination and collaboration among students and parents to make sure that they are mentally ready for the coursework and exams,” says Akis.

THE Education Academy emphasize on having small classes to create better learning experiences. “Most of our classes are 1 to 1 – our tutors are focusing on one student at a time. This gives the greatest attention to our students during the lessons. On top of that, our hands-on teaching methods and quality materials are customized according to the need of the students. This unique approach ensures that we are able to bring out their best abilities and characters.”

“In the coming 1-2 years, we will focus on blended teaching – utilising more online resources to assist offline teaching. We will definitely explore new areas other than exam-oriented learning – stay tuned!, concludes Akis”
